Bring on the Tigers

The whole deal with dropping Pitt from the future football schedule seems to have been a good move. It was announced today that Clemson will face the Auburn Tigers in a home-and-home series in ’10 and ’11. The game in Clemson will be in ’11. And that’s good, because in 4 years I might actually have enough income to afford to start traveling to games again.

But the announcement of the series raises some questions. Given the similar color schemes of both schools, will one fanbase try to out-orange the other? Will one team abandon orange for a secondary color? Is this a guarantee of the return of all-purple? Inquiring minds want to know!

So, what’s new?

  • Mickey Plyler has posted his ranking of teams based on the quarterback situation. He puts Clemson in the middle of the pack and posted the writeup about them on Monday. I’ve grown quite bored with Plyler, and pretty much quit reading his blog after CFHT. Although I should give him credit. He produces posts 5 days a week. If you made me write 5 posts a week, most of them would suck.
  • Scout has an ACC preview up. I only read the Clemson part. Here’s what you need to know: Davis, Spiller, and Ford are good. Bowden, the quarterbacks, and the defense are questionable. Korn may be good. And Clemson will play some games that will determine the outcome of the season. You don’t need to click over unless you’ve been stuck in a hole for months or have time to kill because you have a crappy job and you want to either kill time or yourself.
  • The ‘10-’11 Clemson-Pitt home-and-home is now kaput. Previously we had posted that the games were in ’09 and ’10. Whoops. Either way, Pitt has been struck from the schedule, and I decided to replicate that post in an easy-to-find page with a link near the top-right-hand corner pointing to it. [UPDATED - the Pitt AD blames Clemson.]

It’s almost spring

I’m still freezing my gnome nips off here in Virginia, but spring must be just around the corner. Spring practice is just about to start and the date for the spring game has been announced.

Practice starts March 10th.

The game is April 14 at 1:00 PM.

Admission is free. And TV coverage will be provided by CSS.

You asked for it…..

You got IT!!! So it’s an entire:

Clemson’s Future Football Opponents

Hot off the press…

The Gnomes Schedule has been updated and here are some near season end facts:

The ACC has recorded, according to my photoshop, 74 wins and 58 losses for the season.

If Wake wins this weekend against Maryland the ACCCG will be between two teams that Clemson had defeated in the season; Wake Forest and Georgia Tech. Wake will have one more divisional win than BC (plays Miami) so that would put them into the CG. THAT should piss the seniors off!!

If not for the VT blowout, Clemson would have had another woulda shoulda coulda season with the 1 point losses to BC and Maryland. The total points lost in the season adds to 19 points, and SHOULD STAY AT 19 TOO!!!

This has to be the first time since FSU entered the ACC as well as Miami that both teams have losing conference records. But, ya know the media says the ACC is down so that means everyone else just SUCKS. Thanks media.

Finally, it’s been fun keeping up with the schedule thanks for taking part. Not sure how to get a basketball schedule together as that would be HUGE but if I get enough requests I may be able to get something together. It’s been fun folks, now let’s cheer the Tigers on to one more dominating Senior 4-0 class over the Shamecocks.

Hot off the press

Clemson’s athletic dept. may be the dumbest in the land. After back to back poor showings on the field after noon kickoffs, it’s official:

The Clemson vs. South Carolina game will have a noon kick on Saturday, November 25 and will be televised either by ESPN or ESPN2.

Geeze, I don’t want to hear about the fans not liking the evening games or excuses about it being the holidays. Noon games SUCK!!! No one gets into it like an afternoon or evening game and everyone is still waking up by noon. If you want to know what the atmosphere in Death Valley will be like for that game see the Maryland game…..but worse!!
