The official song of USCe and Columbia

I think the song and video say it all.

Clemson’s Future Football Opponents

Clemson’s future out-of-conference opponents are always up in the air, but at least we know which ACC teams we’ll play through 2015 (assuming the conference stays together).

2007 Clemson Football Scheduled Opponents (in no particular order)::

@ NC State
FSU

@ Ga. Tech
@ Duke
Va. Tech

Thud

Well congratulations are in order for USCe for overcoming both Clemson and themselves en route to today’s victory.

For some reason the deflating losses over the last month kinda took the sting out of this one for me. Here it is, the day of the game, and I’m not drunk, I haven’t screamed at anybody, and nothing in my house has been broken. I would probably feel worse if I actually lived in and among any of the myriad annoying Gamecock fans.

Some general thoughts:

  • James Davis is broken. He had a long of 9 yards and otherwise had 10 yards on 10 carries. I would rather have seen Reggie in the the backfield at the end of the game.
  • Davis does deserve tremendous credit for forcing a fumble and preventing a touchdown.
  • The long plays for touchdowns are great, but they run counter to the general strategy of grinding out a game. With Davis way below 100%, the ability to grind it out is gone. That puts the team in the same position it was in before the new set of coordinators. Neither the offense nor defense did enough to keep Carolina off the field.
  • The zebras were far too visible in the game. They did make some great calls. But they also seem to have been occasionally oblivious to how to officiate games with replay. I’d like to see a good photo of “the measurement.”
  • I’m glad right now that Comcast/Adelphia is horribly inept. Otherwise I’d have been able to log in to TigerNet to witness the inevitable meltdown. DFIG will undoubtedly get plenty of source material for their “Dumb Shit on TigerNet” volumes.
  • I’ll put the over/under on death threats to Jad Dean at 3.

Shitty bowl game here we come!

Early Clemson-South Carolina Point Spread

Palms says Clemson by 4.5. Stratosphere has us by 6. The over/under is 43. As always, you can check all the line movements at VegasInsider.

You may now return to speculating about the coaching career of Steve Spurrier.

Lookin to get out of Dodge

According to CSTV, The ole ball coach may be lookin to get out of Cootlumbia. The chatrooms are abuzz on this news and the Shamecock nation is surely on the edge of their seats after seeing this in print. It may be a bunch of hullabaloo (yes I said hullabaloo) but it’s still fun to think that Spurrier would dispose of the cocks like the dirty rag they are and leave them sprawling for another “legendary” coach. In short, the entire article reads:

“According to sources late Saturday, South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier will likely be named the next head coach at Miami. Spurrier, who won a national championship at Florida is in his second season with the Gamecocks with a 13-10 overall record, including 6-5 in 2006. The coach is in the second year of a seven-year contract”

Hmm, can’t wait to see the signs in Death Valley next week on this one!!

UPDATE: ESPN is picking up the winds of change as well.

Shamecock Gofigya

This just in, like ya didn’t see it coming from the armpit of South Carolina: Blake Mitchell has had all charges dropped on the simple assault case mentioned here previously. His only reprimand, he can’t go to the bar where the confrontation occured. Talk about a slap on the wrist, man that chicken law sure is tough on people!

Shamecock Enigma

Ok can someone please explain to me the power trip that Blake Mitchell, The University of South Carolina’s starting QB, was on when he decided to beat up the large human form at the bottom of the page. Also, this might possibly mean that Chris Smelley, the uber recruit QB, will start against Wofford this weekend. This may be a bad thing if Smelley starts getting his feet under him this early in the season and their offense has a chance to blossom.

Broken Adds: How about a little mugshot goodness?

Weekend Recap

The men’s soccer team got off to a good start beating USuCk in Columbia, 4-3 on Friday night. The womens team got off to a good start as well, going 2-0 in the opening weekend. The women look to keep their momentum going Friday @ Colorado while the men take on Ga State in Clemson tomorrow night. Tiger volleyballers hit the road for the Mortar Board Invitational, going 1-2 and taking third place out of 5. One of the losses came to a top 20 Purdue squad on their home floor. They look to get back on track against USuCk Thursday night in Tiger Town as part of the Big Orange Bash which will also include games against Western Carolina and Tn State Friday and Charlotte on Saturday.

Speaking of Saturday, things look to be ready to roll in Death Valley. The West End Zone is ready and campus, much less the stadium looks to be in it’s best shape in quite sometime as many construction and renovation projects look to have wrapped up, at least on the west side and around the Hendrix Center. Here’s looking forward to a successful week in kicking off Tiger Sports this fall.
