Clemson – Duke Quasi-live blog
We’ve already burned through most of the first half. Clemson has a 6 point lead and 6:27 left. The team is playing well, but probably not well enough.
33-21 at the half. A 12-point lead is certainly appreciated, but it still seems like Clemson needs to figure out how to be frenetic on defense and patient on offense.
14:05 left in the 2nd half, Clemson’s up 20. Grant has made some good plays. I’m a little surprised with some of the stuff the refs have been letting go.
12:52 left. Smith called for a charge. The calls can certainly start going against Clemson real quick. Don’t think that I think that Duke is out of this one yet.
Roughly 8 minutes left: Oglesby hit a bit 3. Sheyer walked without a call (and put up a duck). Then Booker had a wide open dunk. Booker is playing to make a statement. 61-39 right now.
2:00 left: Oglesby missed a dunk. Purnell just shakes his head. I’d have liked to see Clemson play smarter.
I can’t believe Duke just folded like this. They remind me of the bully from A Christmas Story right now.
Game over. First home win against Duke since ’97. The Tigers played like they expected Duke to adjust to their game plan rather than vise versa. And they pulled it off.
It’s still a bit unbelievable. I can empathize with my Duke friends right now, but I’m still going to take some joy from their misery.

yeah, I’m old. With a sick kid at home, I took the opportunity to get some Z’s instead of watching the second half. Bad Clem…..BAD!
The replay of the Oglesby missed dunk and OP shaking his head was hilarious. We honestly were getting sloppy towards the end and could have have won by more easily. Our press screwed with Duke’s head.
FYI for those who want to watch the game again….I think that ESPNU will be replaying it at 3. The lady Tigers don’t play Duke until next week, so that should be the replay.
I feel no empathy whatsoever. Duke basketball has too much of a lovefest going on in certain sections of the media than is necessary or justified. I will say though that K took the loss like a man. I wish Dickie V was there. Maybe he knew the whuppin was coming and figured not to show!
Gotta find a youtube post with “the dunk” and OP’s reaction, as Lawton rightly pointed out. That was one for the ages!
