Host with the Most

It was widely assumed Clemson would be hosting a Super Regional site following their stretch run, barring any collapse in the ACC Tourney. As we all know, that collapse didn’t take place, and the Tigers secured not only a Super Regional host site but the number one seed in the tourney. Pretty impressive considering other teams in the running for this bid, including Rice who has won 32 of their last 34 games and has been perched at number one in most of the polls the past month or so.
The Tigers RPI (#1 all season) and recent winning ways had a lot to do with this. Winners of 19 of their last 20 they have taken games against NCAA tourney teams FSU (three game sweep), NC State (4-0 including tourney championship game), Ga Tech** (3-3 ), USuCk (3-1), Kansas (2-1, Big 12 Tourney Champs), Elon (2-0), Miami (three game sweep), Georgia*(1-1), and College of Charleston (2-0). the only teams in the tourney that the Tigers didn’t have a winning record against in play this season was UVA* (0-3) and Winthrop (0-1).

* Indicates 1st Round Regional Host
** Indicates Top 8 Seed

Super Regional hsots to be announced June 5th after 1st round is complete. Tigers hold home field advantage until Omaha due to #1 seed.
