Looking Back…..at the good times

Great Article over at Tigernet looking over the past football season.

I was actually thinking of this the other day. “man this season sucked, but hell I had some great memories”. I think that my top 5 from ‘06 were:

1. Having the gameday crew on campus and continuoulsy compliment the Clemson environment and fanbase in front of a national audience. This was amplified by the same gameday crew going into USuCk, demeaning them with the “real USC” banter and not allowing them to disgrace Clemson on the TV show.

2. Gaines Adams…..all season, but especially at Wake Forest. I will state right now that I am deeply ashamed that I vocally pleaded with my travel companions to leave in the third quarter of the game after Proctor threw yet ANOTHER INT. But we stayed in the dreary miserable cold wetness to witness what probably was one of the greatest moments of Clemson football that I have personally witnessed, Gaines Adams showing off his high school receiver speed rushing down the field for 80+ yards while the entire stadiums manner changed with every yard. At the end of the game the Tigers exited the field right in front of the stands that we were in and we were cheering so loud when Gaines walked by that he stopped and waved to all the Tiger fans in the section. The last 5 minutes of that game made the travel, weather and other 55 minutes of the game worth it.

3. Being 20 yards from C.J. Spiller as he juked two seasoned Seniors in his purple duds and run off to embarass a Georgia Tech team. I don’t care what people say, I like the purple uniforms. I just wish that they would have taken the new Death Valley panoramic that night.

4. Cheering for all the guys who usually don’t get the support. O-Line, Tight Ends, Fullbacks, 2nd and 3rd string I cheered for them all. You can ask the people around me, Thomas Hunter was one of my favorites, I made it a point to cheer loud for Demerick Chancellor and cheered on Paul Macko as he disembowelled linebackers to get James and CJ those blocks. That made the season great, watching the entire team instead of the star players.

5. Making every home game, seeing all the friends I could and enjoying the weekends in the greatest place on earth: Clemson, SC.
Now it’s on to roundball and all the fun that is has mounted to be so far. but just so you know………it’s only about 7 months to gameday and even sooner for the Spring game to witness the incoming awesomeness of Willy Korn and the early Freshmen!!!!

You’re welcome for keeping you at the Wake game. The last ten minutes of that game may have been the most fun football I have have ever witnessed!

You sat 20 yards from Spiller… while I stood, directly beside Kirk Herbstreit during that play… and watched him imitate Spillers Juke move.

This season was full of great stuff that I will never forget.
