Mmmmm Haterade….tasty
Looks like the good ole haterade fanbase has finally gotten the jab in the ribs that it had been waiting for all season long. The “I told you so”’s of Clemson fandome are revelling in the recent downfall of the mighty Tigers. Even the MEDIA has jumped in after marvelling at the Tigers prowess just a few weeks prior.
These so called fans seem to enjoy the Tigers losses and foam at the mouth for the chance to call for Tommy Bowdens head. The problem is that, even if Tommy wasn’t THE coach for the Tigers, who would be? Who exactly could do a better job and would be willing to come to Clemson and it’s renowned fickle fanbase. Seriously, would you want to come to a place that barely gives you the otherwise “required” 5 years of building to only bash you down when you don’t win the National Championship (Hey, the Tigers won it once, they should do it every year now!!!!).
My favorite arguing points of Tommy’s career are those of Wake Forest losses and how the Tigers should have trashed them every time. OK, fine, but are those same people giving major props to the same Tigers that are the only team to defeat the Deacs in the conference so far this season. I don’t think so. I also stand by the tired argument of the injuries and their affects on the team. Yes the absence of certain players talents should have been rectified by now but people are still going off of preseason ACCCG predicition hype with the team that has formed from the injuries. I don’t know what “color glasses” these people are wearing but the logic is waaaay out the window.
As mentioned at the beginning of the season, I am a pessimist, but I am still a Tommy Bowden fan. He continues to build the team and it’s reputation across the nation. I, thankfully, was not part of the Tiger nation when they won the SINGLE national championship more than 25 years ago. I came into Clemson during the Tommy West era, so every season I enjoy the winning records and decent bowl games. I too fall into the hype just like every other fan but refrain from calling for a coaches head when he loses a few games in a season. Yes, Maryland had a horrible spread coming into the game but as mentioned in previous posts, they had begun to get their game together. As for VT and BC, well VT played the Tigers like the Tigers played GT and BC just prevailed off of Clemson errors. In the end, I may have called a 10-2 season but, as with every Clemson season, you have to have a push on the loss column for the one that got away.
Oh yeah…..and how about that miserable kicker that we have. Oh wait, he actually was the only one who got points on the board, but you won’t hear much about that. Good to have you back Jad.

First of all everyone here knows I am not a Tommy hater. I may be frustrated with him right now but I was with Jad a few weeks ago. I want to ask I question. Are the players we have on the field better than our coach? Thoughts?
The difference between being an “okay” program and a “good” program is winning the games you are supposed to. When we consistently win the games we are supposed to, we can fuss about not winning ACC titles. This problem seems to be righting itself somewhat but is really the only gripe I have. If we win two more, whose going to complain about a 9-3 season and a trip to someplace worth visiting over the Christmas and New Years holiday?
