Not that it matters…

Having believed in Bowden through thick and thin (and now thinner), I have just two things to say.
1) Will Proctor’s performance was not tehcause of the losses to Maryland or Va Tech Games. The coaching staff lost those games by having Clemson’s superior talent and skill poorly prepared for those games.
2) T. Bowden and Spence owe an apology to the team.
I agree and said that all throughout Saturday and Sunday; it wasn’t Proctor’s play this weekend, if you look at the numbers he hit his receivers, didn’t have any glaring problems other than a forced pass that was almost an INT and the overthrown fade into the endzone to Kelly. He was a bit random in his run/pass decisions and I am not sure if that was a pocket problem or a broken play. Overall, I believe that the ACC has figured out the offensive schemes. When you go from leading the nation in scoring to 1 touchdown in your last 7 quarters something is obviously awry.
Proctor’s passing did’t look bad, but he looked like he’d never run the ball before in his life… much like how earlier in the season Jad Dean looked like he’d never attempted a field goal before.
ok, we lost the game… big friggin’ whoop. what else have we grown to expect from a clemson football team? we beat the teams we shouldn’t and get beat by teams that we should beat. that’s nothing new to clemson football. however, i completely expected to come out of that game a winner. 19+ point spread, home field advantage, coming off a dismal performance and needing a victory to secure a potential spot in the acccg… we were “poised” to win (coming into the game), but you can’t win a football game when your quarterback plays football like a virgin getting his first piece of action (yeah, i did use that analogy, sue me). proctor looked lost. yeah, sure, he threw up 200+ yards, but what did that accomplish? it got us to the redzone and then no further. early on in the season proctor would evade the defensive pressure and run out of the pocket and 1)get a first down with his feet or 2) throw to a reciever that beat his coverage. now he’s running towards defenders instead of away from them. 9 yards on 9 carries doesn’t win ball games. but i can’t sit here and blame it all on proctor, most of the blame goes right to coach bowden. run, run, run and run the ball some more. that’s what he said he wanted to do at the beginning of the season, and that he did. now teams know that. he has taken proctor mentally out of the game. proctor through 350 yards against bc, granted one of the passes was a screen pass to the best true freshman in the nation. i expect there to be lots of deep passes in the ncstate and south carolina game. if teams are going to stack the box, coach bowden must call plays that will ultimately kill teams that stack eight. the ncstate team is down, way down, but south carolina is coming along quite nice. going into the maryland game i thought for sure that we had three straight victories, now i am not sure if we have one.
Why exactly do you think Bowden calls plays?
As a fan of another team that outplayed Maryland and lost I offer my condolences. Chalk it up some wierd anti-ACC karma this season that cause the highest-ranked ACC team to immediately lose. Be glad that Clemson is still on the upswing and that James Davis and CJ Spiller will still be playing on Saturdays next year. QB play has slaughtered every team in the league at some point and you’re the latest victim, but better days are ahead….
