Playing Georgia Tech is bad for your health…

… possibly quite damaging to your season… but very good for the purveyors of whiskey and beer.

It’s late now, but here’s the quick, quick recap.

In the first game the Tigers managed to pull out 3 runs in the top of the 8th and one more in the ninth for a 2 run lead. Well they decided to fuck leads and go for drama and ratings. Two GT runs later and the game was in extra innings. In the 10th Tech dropped one more to take the win mandating a second game which, by the schedule should have started at 7 PM.

Around 10:30 PM the 2nd game started. It actually started much the same way as the first with some Techie going yard for a solo shot in the bottom of the first. The whole thing stayed close. My video feed kept screwing up, eventually getting 3-5 minutes behind reality (when I get free shit I demand quality damnit!). With Clemson up by 2 in the bottom of the 8th, Tech tied the game with a 2 run tater-tot. The runner on first made it via a questionable call wherein the pitcher and runner were in a foot-race and the tag (if there was one) wasn’t good enough. The announcer, with the aid of one, a single, solamente uno camera view declared repeatedly that the “replay clearly showed” that the tag was missed. Asshat. Anyway, with the 8th put behind the Tigers, they exploded like a pimple on a 15 year-old’s face before his first big date. Ten runs they put on the board with everybody getting a piece of the ball like it was Paris Hilton. But in order to avoid a punishment for running up the score, the D gave up 5 more runs, including what I heard was a Grande Salami with extra cholesterol. 16-11.

Next game’s today at 1 PM on FSNS (I think) and CSS or something. Hi Ho. Hi Ho. It’s off to the sports bar I go.

Good God these Tiger sports are going to kill me. Every Clemson team plays JUST ENOUGH to beat the opponent. I thought that they had the jackets bagged in the first game but nooooooo. I have to watch these through the CSTV gametrackers as I am working the weekend which sucks! Oh well, GO TIGERS!

Yeah, the video feed for the game last night was pretty horrible. At least I could still hear what was going on though. I’m glad the game is on real TV today.

I heard about the new mercy rule in effect for that high school league. From what I understand, it’s really just targetted at one coach in particular. I’ll probably have a post up on that sometime soon.

Anyway, GO TIGERS!
