Thud

Aside from the changes in the coaching staff, the season kind of ended how it began, didn’t it? The offense was largely stagnant and the defense just wasn’t good enough. Sure we didn’t get beat as badly by Nebraska as we did by Alabama, but Nebraska isn’t as good as Alabama, either.

Per ESPN, the offense mustered

14 1st Downs
3-16 on 3rd down
1-3 on 4th down
210 Total Yards
206 Passing Yards
17-37 Comp-Att
4 Rushing Yards
26 Rushing Attempts
2 Turnovers
25:49 Time of Possession

Four goddamn rushing yards!

Now, since the rushing total against Alabama was only zero, the relative improvement is infinite, but still, FOUR GODDAMN YARDS!

If I were the AD, I’d watching the Orange Bowl right now and thinking to myself, “maybe I can still get that Cincinnati coach for next year.”

You can tank Cullen Harper for
A. Losing the game
B. Being a douche bag
and
C. the 4 rushing yards, negating any yards Spiller and Davis had together by running 12 feet backwards and taking a sack.

CUTigersinDV….I completely agree! The first thing i thought is thank GOD that is Harper’s last game. I think Dabo did a great job this year and i’m not ready to burn him at the stake as many already are. Harper lost all of my confidence and respect after the petty comments he mad after TB left. Harper lost that game yesterday with that sack, and then the throw to nowhere on 4th down. His lack of decision making on the field is what hurt us in the end. The coaches did their job and got the players into a position to win it. Good Riddens Cullen!!

Does Harper think he is elusive? Every sack he got he lost 10 yards trying to run from the defender.

“He got what he deserved….”

Beyond comprehension. Almost like he gave the Clemson fans a big turd as a going away present.

Any speculation on the new OC? I think Billy N is a quality guy, but we need a complete overhaul on the offense.

Since Doc wasn’t calling the game, I had to keep chanting “cyborg” to myself throughout the game.

i want no parts of a Billy Napier run offense. I thought Spence was back on the sidelines when I saw
A. bubble/tunnel screens galore called
B. Passing plays called everytime we were anywhere near the goalline
C. A gimmick offense relying on 1 player (Spiller) as if no one else had suited up
and
D. a passing play called on 2nd a short (granted that wasnt very often)

I guess his hands were tied because the whole O-line had the flu. I hear nothing but excuses all the time from this coaching staff. Should have cleaned house and got a new coach. They either get rid of elements of the Tommy Bowden staff and keep TB or get rid of TB and keep elements of his staff. We need a fresh start.

I agree with most of this less the passing on 2nd and short. If you have any confindence in your O-line and running backs you most definitely go downfield in this situation, knowing you can get what you need in the next play (or two).
Let’s just hope that if we keep Napier, he was calling plays that were installed and the players could run. Sadly, the gap between USuCk and the bowl is big enough to install some new stuff.

THANK GOD WE GOT RID OF THAT KOENNING CHARACTER!!! His defense did nothing to keep the Tigers in the game. Oh……wait…….they did everything

We don’t need Napier…Dabo is the recruiter…all Napier can do it recruit the state of NC. Big deal. He’s a terrible play caller. At the very least demote him…he can’t develop QB’s either.

Blackwell’s defense looked a like like Koenning’s…tough as nails for most of the game, but gave up big plays at crucial times. I’m starting to thing it’s not the coordinator that’s the problem.
