Uh Oh
The post semester fireworks begin. The folks at GT may, or may not, be upset to know that Reggie Ball and Kenny Scott will not be playing in the Gator Bowl against WVU. Not that the bowl is expecting many Jacket fans to make the trip for the second time in roughly a month, but now they are going in less a four year starting quarteback and a starting corner. Ball could be a big loss if he is having a good day. We all know those are guaranteed so I call this loss a wash for them. Losing Scott at corner will probably a bigger loss with WVU’s speed game and underrated pass attack when they need it. Watch the spread run a bit in the next day or two.
For Tiger fans, a bigger concern is upon us. Duane “Little John” Coleman is being help for simple doobie possession. He is the 4th leading tackler on the team with 81. This isn’t necessarily a surprise to this gnome, especially after some of the issues we had several years back and the fact this seems to pop up with most programs at some point every couple years. Sucks that it’s a higher profile play, during a time when there isn’t much to talk about other than Bowl Prognostications. This will be a chance for some freshman to get some serious PT against a team that will toss it around a bit in Nashville. Let’s hope it’s a positive preview of what we will be getting in the secondary season. Note to Duane: Good job dumbass. You got a second chance after being suspended in ’05, only to prove that is was a mistake to let you back on the squad. Way to be a senior leader!

You are wrong to say it was a mistake to let Coleman back on the team in 2005. Since that time he has been an asset to the team and has improved his position in life.
You don’t yet know any of the circumstances surrounding his arrest and yet you are ready to condemn him based on that limited knowledge. Bad karma on your part.
BTW, were you drinking when you wrote the “Uh Oh” article? The grammar and voacabulary choices suck.
He wasn’t drinking. He’s just always like that.
I’m pretty sure you were able to get the gist of the article. When the news is posted all over the major publications and there are several sources from the local detention center being sited in confirmation of the player being held, I feel it a safe bet to assume he screwed up and is in jail and/or under investigation. I’m also not saying that bringing him back was a bad idea at the time. Now it’s just a black eye to the public perception of the coaches judgement. Had this not happened, everyone would say what a great job Duane had done in turning things around and what an asset he has been to the D this season, as you mention. None of which I would disagree with, especially the part about him being an asset on the field. You get one response or the other in cases like this. Duane’s actions have brought about the negative one. That’s the way it goes. I am happy that this is the worst post season news we have and that he wasn’t toting around enough to get brought up on intent to distribute charges. Hell, he may have just been the wrong guy holding the joint in a circle of friends toking up, this I don’t know. Either way, it was illegal, he got caught, and is in trouble for the second time.
Most of these players should be sent packing on their first offense whether it was Duane or some kid at SW Arizona State. They are being given an education, and many of them an opportunity at a much better life. The least the schools, coaches, and fans can do is expect them to make passing grades and keep their noses clean (literally and figuratively). I’ve been in trouble before. I didn’t plead for a second chance. I didn’t whine that I was unjustly victimized. I sure didn’t expect anyone to stand up in defense for my illegal actions, pat me on the butt, and say it was ok, jsut don’t do it again. I accepted my punishment and moved forward in life.
That’s fodder for an entirely different forum and post.
Now, as for your other little comments. It was late, I was tired, and making sure an English major or MS Word spel land grammar checked me was the least of my concerns. Sorry sweetie. I’ll call you to proof read it next time. Until then, shoot me your blog site so I can go spout off about some statistical inaccuracy or complete crap you dribble out. Until then, take what I write for the information and opinion given, and put a little less emphasis on how it is presented each and every time out of the box.
Merry Christmas everyone! Good will to all!
If I had a blog (which I don’t for reasons that are obvious to those who know me) I would be happy to have your critique because that would mean someone was actually reading it!! I enjoy your blog and hope all criticism is accepted as positive.
Meanwhile I agree with Walker’s comment above.
God bless us everyone!
I would like to make a note that this is the offical first time anyone has ever agreed with me on any subject as a newbie to the gnome site…too bad it’s not Clemson sports related, hmmm.
suspended??? that’s all?!
Bowden should have used the set between his legs and KICKED the pot head off the team. If all your gonna get for smoking a little tree is a suspension… then what’s stopping the rest of them? They all smoke pot anyways –> just check out their facebook pages… if it isn’t pot… it’s underage drinking. What a group of “role models”.
I am ashamed of Mr. Coleman… leader my white butt.
Jesus, what the hell is he supposed to do to a guy who is approaching his last game?
In this case:
suspension = kicking off
