What……was……THAT!!!

From CSTV:

“The Tigers took a 63-49 lead on a pair of free throws by Trevor Booker with 5:05 to play but that would be their last points of the game. ”

Yeah, that’s it in a nutshell. Clemson had this game won handily 5 minutes before the buzzer. Too bad they forgot about the last 5 minutes of the game. How exactly do you go scoreless for 5 minutes much less let the other team score 15 points? Did the Tigers leave the court or something!!! I was watching it via CSTV gametracker and watched the “flow of the game” go out the roof for UVA while Clemson flatlined. It may just be a one point loss but the way that they lost should put Clemson at the bottom of the top 25 in my opinion.

Unfortunately I suffered as I watched a well played game turn into a steaming pile in front of my very eyes. My favorite part was the last minute of the game where we couldn’t make a layup, complete a pass, get a rebound, or even foul VA to stop the damn clock. It makes it really hard to defend our team when we’re labeled “overrated” after a performance like this.

I was just as embarrassed, pissed off, and left in shock at how this game turned out. However, Clemson’s basketball program is not used to having success and is still learning how to win. I keep looking at the progression of the program over the last five years do not get as discouraged about the basketball team losing games like these as I do when the football has these types of meltdowns. There are still 8 games to go in the ACC and the basketball has learned some very valuable lessons so far this season that should help them out the second half of the season and into the postseason. Go TIGERS!
